The use of humorous language—particularly in Karikalamators—has permeated contemporary lifestyles owing to the multifaceted nature of meaning and the economy of expression characteristic of this genre. It is employed in both oral and written forms, and a number of successful and prominent writers, especially in recent decades, have distinguished themselves in this field. Among these contemporary humorists are Hossein Moghaddasinia, Hossein Ebrahimi, Manzar Ebrahimipour, Mohammad-Javad Halvaei, and Ahmadreza Behrampour-Omran. The present article adopts a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the factors that generate humor in the works of these writers. A selection of humorous Karikalamators by these authors is examined and analyzed in light of the General Theory of Verbal Humor (GTVH), which comprises six components: Script Opposition, Logical Mechanism, Target, Situation, Narrative Strategy, and Language. The analysis seeks to identify the techniques employed in these Karikalamators and to explore how humor is produced and comprehended within them.
This theory analyzes humorous texts along a continuum from the most abstract aspect—namely, Script Opposition—to the most concrete aspect—namely, Language. Given that the focus of this study is the artistic and practical techniques of humor creation in Karikalamators, an attempt has been made to provide a clear account of the techniques employed in these works through a comprehensive analysis. The findings indicate that although all six components contribute to the creation of humor in Karikalamators, Script Opposition, in conjunction with Logical Mechanism, constitutes the technique with the highest frequency and greatest efficacy. Furthermore, the writers' precision in selecting and arranging words along the syntagmatic axis proves highly effective in generating humor, adding depth, enhancing impact, and ensuring the coherence of the discourse.
